It was 1991 and I was dating a man but it wasn’t serious. I was on the pill but got a urinary tract infection so I went to my doctor to get it treated. My doctor put me on antibiotics but failed to tell me that they would make the pill ineffective. Well I got pregnant! I thought about the man I was dating (he was nowhere near ready to help raise a child, he could barely keep himself together) and decided that I wasn’t ready to have this baby on my own so I had an abortion. My mom took me to the local clinic and afterwards took me home and took care of me for the next day or two. I don’t regret my decision at all. I’m glad that I had that option and to this day am passionate about keeping abortion safe and legal for all of my sisters!
